Penn State Wrestling’s Mitchell Mesenbrink wins his second consecutive NCAA title Saturday night in Cleveland, Ohio.
With Mesenbrink’s 20-4 win over Iowa’s Mikey Caliendo, the super electric Nittany Lion wins his second NCAA title. Additionally, Penn State Wrestling picks up their first NCAA title of the night inside the thunderous Rocket Arena crowd.
Following up on a 27-0 record last season, Mesenbrink again compiled a perfect 27-0 record while also taking home his third straight B1G title. And with his seemingly endless gas tank, Mitchell finishes the year with a ridiculous bonus point percentage of 96%.
Furthermore, tonight’s result gives MM his third straight All-American finish as he finished runner-up in the 2024 NCAA’s. And Mitchell also adds his name to a very prestigious group of Penn State Wrestlers to win two or more NCAA titles.
Being a front-runner for this year’s Dan Hodge Trophy for the majority of the season, it’s going to be very interesting to see who ultimately takes home the coveted award. Wrestling fans have seen co-winners before, and it’s possible that may happen yet again.
And even though recognition and awards are nice, that’s not why Mitchell Mesenbrink busts his tail off each day in the wrestling room.
Nope.
He does it to get better each and every day.
So everyone better watch out for next year …
