Penn State wrestling didn’t get what would have been a big time recruiting win in Bo Bassett but Jax Forrest has yet to commit, and now we know when he will.

Forrest will announce his decision on FloWrestling at 11 Thursday morning.

Forrest is choosing between Iowa, Penn State, Oklahoma State and Ohio State.

Like his Bishop McCort teammate, Bassett— who announced his commitment to Iowa Tuesday night— Forrest is among America’s top wrestlers from his Class.

No Bassett: Penn State Wrestling Recruiting Target Commits Elsewhere

It’s pretty much a consensus that if Bassett isn’t the No. 1 pound-for-pound Class of 2026 wrestler, Forrest is. It certainly is a banner time to be a Bishop McCort wrestling fan.

FROM NC TO PA

Forrest is from North Carolina originally but moved to Pennsylvania. In three seasons at McCort, he’s 118-3 and only six of those 118 wins have been traditional decisions. Of the other 112, four have been majors, 61 have been tech falls, 39 have been falls and eight have been forfeits. Forrest went 53-2 as a sophomore last season and won the PA state championship at 127 pounds. This season, Forrest is on track to win another state title, with this one being at 132. He’s 35-0, and all but four of his wins have been via tech fall (17) fall (10) or forfeit (four).

At the college level, Forrest figures to wrestle at either 141 or 149. Currently, Beau Bartlett wrestlers at 141 for Penn State and Shayne Van Ness wrestles at 149.

COULD IT BE MAGIC?

Whenever Iowa and Penn State are in the mix for a top-ranked recruit, usually those are the two schools that will command the most attention. But don’t forget about Oklahoma State, either. OSU, led by Penn State wrestling great and Olympic Gold Medalist David Taylor, just got a big Class of 2026 recruiting win with No. 3 prospect Dreshaun Ross committing.

Wrestling Recruiting: Target Chooses David Taylor, Oklahoma State Over Penn State

It would certainly be a big win for “The Magic Man” and company is the No. 2 recruit were next.

Whenever Forrest picks, he’ll be going to one of America’s blue bloods.
