DraftKings and Bet Rivers put out early betting lines and odds for USA Men’s Freestyle Wrestling Thursday, and Penn State/Nittany Lion Wrestling Club are well-represented.
Kyle Dake has the best odds for the freestyle team, opening up as a favorite at 74 kg with -1000 odds.
Penn State wrestling great Aaron Brooks and former Michigan heavyweight Mason Parris have the second-best odds to bring home a gold medal with +150 odds. Brooks will compete at 86 kg, while Parris is at 125 kg.
The Nittany Lion Wrestling Club and former Ohio State heavyweight Kyle Snyder is at +300 at 97 kg. Spencer Lee is at +500 at 57 kg, while Zain Retherford is +900 at 65 kg.
Another former Penn State star who will be competing at the Olympics is Roman Bravo-Young.
RBY, a two-time national champion, three-time finalist and five-time All-American, will be competing for Mexico.
He chose to transfer to the Mexican team over the summer and was eligible to do so due to his grandparents and great-grandparents being from Mexico.
RBY’s odds sit at +5000. He’ll be in the same weight class (57 kg) as Iowa legend and USA qualifier Spencer Lee. There was talk amongst wrestling fans two seasons ago about RBY and Lee meeting despite RBY being at 133 and Lee 125 but that match never ended up taking place during the Penn State-Iowa dual meet.
Now, there’s a chance that match ends up taking place, which would be a treat for wrestling fans.
According to Oddschecker, along with Dake, favorites are Serbia’s Stevan Micic at 57 kg, Hungary’s Iszmail Muszukajev at 65 kg, Dake, Iran’s Hassan Yazdani at 86 kg, Bahrain’s Akhmed Tazhudinov at 97 kg, and Iran’s Amir Hossein Zare at 125 kg.
