Phoenix Mercury to host the 2024 WNBA All-Star Game
Mark J. Rebilas-USA TODAY Sports

The 2024 WNBA All-Star game is coming to Phoenix in 2024 for the third time in league history.

ESPN reports that WNBA Commissioner Cathy Engelbert acknowledged the impact of the change in ownership on the Mercury, crediting it for influencing this decision.

“With Phoenix being one of our original franchises, now under new ownership, they are very excited. The city is also hosting a women’s Final Four coming up, and I think they want to be a center of basketball. So the Mercury were very interested in having All-Star.”

Owner Mat Ishbia has been discussing this event since he assumed ownership in December. In response to the exciting news, Ishbia stated:

“Proud to bring so many basketball fans together in our Phoenix community for this awesome event.”

Ishbia has been diligently observing and documenting how Las Vegas is managing the ongoing WNBA All-Star festivities. Phoenix’s owner has made it clear that he will not shy away from making his event one to remember.

“We’re real big believers that Phoenix is a basketball destination, not only for women’s and men’s players but for fans. It’s one of the best basketball hotspots in the country. And we’re eager to showcase that.”

This will be the first time that the All-Star game is heading to Phoenix since 2014.
