PHOENIX — Phoenix Rising head coach Pa-Modou Kah hopes to make the club the best representation for the state and spoke about their latest match from June 21.
After a heartbreaking loss to the Charleston Battery, 4-1, on Saturday, Kah spoke to the media on Wednesday afternoon to discuss what he saw in the match. Kah saw many important learning moments for the young team despite the end score. He doesn’t believe the score tells the entire story.
“The learning points that we took away is to be finishers like Charleston,” Kah said. “Because they took their chances at the right moment, we didn’t. But overall, I was very pleased with the performance.”
Rising have been battling through injuries and players going to play internationally, but Kah doesn’t see that as a weakness. He believes determination and resilience have helped shape Phoenix’s identity and culture throughout the season. Kah wants to best represent Arizonians and the community.
“It’s very important that these players represent the valley,” said Kah. “That the people in the valley can look at them and say, ‘They are one of us.’ For me, that is so important.”
