PHOENIX — Phoenix Rising head coach Pa-Modou Kah spoke to the media on Wednesday afternoon to reflect on the team’s win against Orange County FC and looks ahead to Saturday’s match against FC Tulsa on June 14.
Rising took a 3-1 victory against Orange County on June 7 to continue their four-game winning streak. Phoenix took the early lead in the match but conceded a tying goal in the second half.
That didn’t stop Phoenix from taking the lead right back, something Kah sees as progress from the group. He also noted that the return of injured players has had a positive impact on the team.
“We played a very good game,” he said. “We trained in the right direction. Again, our mentality has always been that when something happens you move on to the next and they responded very well.”
Rising now heads on the road to face FC Tulsa, a group they’ve played twice already this season, with both times on the losing end. Both teams will play on a different pitch but Kah is focused on only one thing: to win a football game.
“The surface doesn’t matter to us,” Kah said. “We need to play a football game. The surface is the same for them as it’s going to be for us… It doesn’t matter.”
Nothing but vibes
