Pitt was right there in the ACC mix all season, but they fell to Miami late and ended up losing three of their last four games. This year's team should be good again, but it'll have to close strong.

What are the good, bad, and scenarios with the 2026 Pitt football schedule?

Breaking Down Pitt's 2026 Football Schedule

The Good

The Who Pitt Misses in the ACC section below is the biggest solid.

Opening up with four straight home games is good, the non-conference slate isn't bad, and there's a real chance the Panthers are 7-0 before ...

The Bad

At Miami. The second half of the schedule is a big problem, and it starts with having to deal with the Hurricanes - and that's at the end of a run of three road games in four weeks.

Going to Louisville and Cal over the last two games will be a problem.

What ACC Teams Pitt Will Miss

Clemson, Duke, NC State, SMU, Stanford, Virginia, Wake Forest.

It would be nice to miss Miami, but not having to place Clemson, Duke - it is the defending ACC champion - and Virginia is a great place to start.

Pitt’s Best and Worst Case Scenarios in 2026

Best Case: The Panthers don't trip early

Again, they get through the early part of the schedule without a problem. They beat Virginia Tech on the road, get by North Carolina, and they set up the showdown at Miami in late October.

There's a loss somewhere, but the Panthers get by Georgia Tech and Florida State at home, beat Louisville on the road, and they get to the Cal game with a chance to go to the ACC Championship.

Worst Case: Pitt goes 2025 Pitt

There's a strange misfire early on and a loss to Virginia Tech on the road. They win enough in the middle of the season to be relevant, but the wheels come off in late November, losing two of their last three.

Games That Will Decide Pitt’s Season

1. at Virginia Tech, Oct. 2. There are bigger games on the schedule, but this is the big early hurdle. Pitt should have a monster start if it wins this.

2. at Miami, Oct. 24. No one will think it can win this, but if it does, all of a sudden, this might be a special season.

3. at Louisville, Nov. 21. The Panthers lost to the Cardinals in the ACC opener last year, and this time around, there's a big problem if they lose with a long, dangerous trip to Cal to close things out.
