Randy Johnson is on the short list of the greatest left-handed pitchers in baseball history. But is that the first thing you think of when you hear his name mentioned?

Johnson is a five-time Cy Young Award winner, a World Series MVP and a first-ballot Hall of Famer. However, he might be more famous for a completely different reason. As noted in this story from Athlon Sports’ Thomas Neumann, Tuesday is the 25th anniversary of the day Johnson blew up a bird.

He didn’t do it on purpose. The dove unfortunately got in the way of a Johnson pitch during a spring training game.

Even before social media was a thing, this incident became legendary — enough so that it begs the question…
