Notre Dame football kicked off a big week of recruiting with a massive win in the 2027 class. The Fighting Irish were able to secure a commitment from Mobile (Al.) Williamson linebacker Ellis McGaskin. They won out over an offer list that includes Ohio State, Michigan, Tennessee, Ole Miss, LSU, Florida, Florida State, Auburn, and Nebraska among many others.
The 6-1, 200-pound defender is the second commit in the 2027 class for Notre Dame. He is joined by long snapper Sean Kraft, largely considered as the best long snapper in the country.
With McGaskin’s decision now in the books, the attention turns back to the 2026 recruiting class for the Irish. Over the next few weeks, there is a very good chance this group is just about solidified. Here is my prediction for the next three commitments in the class for Notre Dame, which could all come this week.
Finley is making his decision this Friday, July 4th. He will be deciding between Notre Dame, Texas, and Texas A&M. As a Longhorn legacy, there has been a lot of pressure for Finley to stay in the Lone Star State. Despite that pressure, Notre Dame has been closing strong. I like the Fighting Irish in this battle.
Speaking of sons of former NFLers, Fitzgerald just so happens to share the same house as one of the best wide receivers of this past generation. Like his father Larry Fitzgerald, his son boasts a massive catch radius and very strong hands. The younger Fitzgerald will be selecting between the Irish, Clemson, and Stanford on Saturday. Notre Dame is the team to beat.
To wrap up the weekend, Robinson will be deciding between Notre Dame, Miami, and Arizona. The Fighting Irish are once again considered a favorite for the diminutive pass catcher. What the 5-8, 160-pound wide receiver lacks in size, he makes up for in speed, explosiveness, and playmaking ability. He would look great in a suddenly deep 2026 wide receiver room for Notre Dame.
