President Donald Trump said that he is thinking about hosting a UFC event at the White House with more than 20,000 attendees to celebrate the 250th birthday of the U.S.A. Trump shared his plans during a speech in Iowa to begin a year’s worth of festivities to celebrate 250 years of independence in America. He is an avid MMA fan and has attended several events. Trump is also good friends with UFC CEO Dana White.
President Trump said, “We have a lot of land there. “So every one of our national parks, battlefields, and historic sites are going to have special events in honor of America’s 250th. And I even think we’re going to have a UFC fight. Think of this on the grounds of the White House.” He added that it would be a “full fight” with 20-25,000 people in attendance.
A White House spokesperson said there were no other details after the announcement. Karoline Leavitt, press secretary, said Trump is “dead serious” about those plans.
Trump has experienced standing ovations and front row seats to UFC events. This includes appearing after his reelection and last month alongside White. A fight at the White House would be monumental. I wonder if it would be free on cable since most events are on pay-per-view. No matter what, I am sure many of us will watch.
