Raiders Draft Prospect: CB Cam Hart, Notre Dame
Tommy Gilligan-USA TODAY Sports

The Las Vegas Raiders are focusing on the 2024 NFL Draft, looking for young talent to add to their roster.

The Raiders are in a new era, with Coach Antonio Pierce and General Manager Tom Telesco hoping to bring championships to a storied franchise. Pierce built an identity of toughness and competitiveness during his interim stint in 2023.

Pierce and Telesco are looking for players who fit that mold and can establish a foundation they are trying to build.

One of those players could be Notre Dame cornerback Cam Hart. So far, Hart has been a standout during Senior Bowl practices in Mobile, Ala., holding his own against some of the best receivers in the draft class.

Hart finished his Fighting Irish career with 90 total tackles, 10.5 tackles for loss, three forced fumbles, 17 passes defended, and two interceptions. His stock could rise majorly after his impressive practices at the Senior Bowl.

Hart has some of the most impressive size at the cornerback position in the draft. He stands at 6-foot-2 and weighs 207 pounds. His size shows up on tape as well as a physically imposing corner which matches up well across from wide receivers.

Hart uses his size to his advantage as an outside corner. He has good athleticism and moves well against his match-up. He made The Athletic reporter Bruce Feldman’s ‘Freaks List,’ a compilation of some of the most extraordinary athletes in college football.

His size should be an advantage for him in the NFL as it was for his collegiate career, especially in coverage. According to Pro Football Focus, he was targeted 28 times and allowed just 15 receptions for 137 yards and did not allow a touchdown. Hart is technically refined and very instinctive.

One thing that may cause Hart problems at the next level is his level of physicality. He tends to get handsy at the top of routes, which will result in penalties in the NFL. Hart will have to learn how to have his physicality translate if he wants to be successful.

Hart is projected to be a day three selection, but could see his stock rise in the coming weeks. His size and athleticism could entice the Raiders and could make him a part of the Silver and Black.

From February 27 to March 4, 2024, the NFL Scouting Combine will be held at Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis, Ind.

The NFL Draft will be held in Detroit, Mich., on April 25-27, 2024. The Las Vegas Raiders currently hold the No. 13 overall pick.
