Raiders prove once again they are no threat to Chiefs with Jakobi Meyers mess

The Kansas City Chiefs and Las Vegas Raiders are in two completely different spots. While the Chiefs are contending for Super Bowls every year, the Raiders are floundering and still haven't won a playoff game since January 2003.

it's always fun when Raiders drama floods our social media and the latest drama surfacing from Sin City is that wide receiver Jakobi Meyers no longer wants to wear the silver and black. According to Ian Rapoport and Tom Pelissero, Meyers "recently met with team brass and requested to be traded".

Jakobi Meyers requested a trade from the Raiders

It's noteworthy that Rapoport also reported "The team, citing his value, said they had no plans to do so. Meyers and the team attempted to negotiate a new contract, but could not come to terms". Even with that being the case, it's still funny to see one of the few highly productive players on the Raiders get this treatment from the team.

Meyers is coming off a career year where he totaled over 1,000 yards and found the end zone four times. He scored eight touchdowns the year before and yet the Raiders aren't willing to give him the kind of contract he wants and secure a player who's proven to be a game-changer for them.

Meyers has yet to have a bad game against the Chiefs since he joined the Raiders, which is another reason why you'd think the front office would want to get a deal worked out. Meyers' four games against the Chiefs as a Raider have seen him with receiving yards of 79, 42, 52, and 97 while scoring two touchdowns. He's been pretty dang good against Kansas City so Chiefs fans would love nothing more for the Raiders to botch things with him.

While the Broncos and Chargers have both seemingly "closed the gap" when it comes to chasing down the Chiefs in the AFC West, the Raiders haven't been able to say the same. They're easily the worst team in the division so you'd think keeping a player like Meyers would be at the top of their priority list but that doesn't appear to be the case.

Even with Tom Brady as the Raiders minority owner, the team is still making puzzling decisions and that's A-okay with Chiefs fans. It's entertaining to watch a trainwreck in your own division and the Raiders never disappoint in that department.
