Rams Safety Russ Yeast Injured vs. Steelers

OCT 22 YEAST HURT The Los Angeles Rams have gotten banged up early on vs. the Pittsburgh Steelers on both sides of the ball on Sunday. 

But given their lack of depth in the secondary, the injury to safety Russ Yeast may have been the biggest. 

In the first quarter of Sunday's matchup, Yeast was the victim of a blindside block by Steelers receiver George Pickens and was slow to get up after the play, suffering an apparent hip injury.

Yeast eventually went to the medical tent and emerged wearing the same hip apparatus quarterback Matthew Stafford used after his injury against the Indianapolis Colts a couple of weeks ago.

Yeast is currently questionable to return. 

OCT 20 FRIDAY INJURY REPORT

For the Rams, defensive tackle Larrell Murchison and running back Karen Williams are both listed as OUT for Sunday's game, while linebacker Ernest Jones and wideout Ben Skowronek are listed as QUESTIONABLE. The Steelers have listed tight end Pat Freiermuth OUT.

The Rams' report doesn't look much different from Wednesday's, with the only changes being that Jones went from DNP to limited while Turner went from limited to full participation.

On the other hand, the Steelers' report changed in a huge way with Watt landing on it. The 2021 Defensive Player of the Year just suffered his injury on Thursday, so his status for Sunday's game will certainly be one to watch. Freiermuth also went from full to limited participation, another big blow for Pittsburgh.

OCT 18 WEDNESDAY INJURY REPORT As the Los Angeles Rams are preparing to host the Pittsburgh Steelers on Sunday, both teams released their first injury report on Wednesday.

OCT 18 RIVERS TO IR The Los Angeles Rams reportedly placed backup running back Ronnie Rivers on injured reserve Wednesday afternoon, meaning that he will miss at least the next four games.

Rivers suffered a PCL sprain in the team's win over the Cardinals last week. 

Starter Kyren Williams was also injured in the win over Arizona, but will not be designated to IR. 

In replacement of Williams and Rivers, rookie Zach Evans will likely get the start. The Rams also promoted Royce Freeman to the active roster and signed both Darrell Henderson and Myles Gaskin. 

OCT 16 TOP TWO BACKS OUT? The Los Angeles Rams suffered a pair of key injuries on Sunday in their win over the Arizona Cardinals, with their top two running backs - Kyren Williams and Ronnie Rivers - both leaving the game with injuries. 

Williams, who ran for 158 yards and a score vs. Arizona, suffered an ankle injury late, and according to reports is scheduled to undergo an MRI on Monday.

Rivers is also set to undergo an MRI on Monday after suffering what the Rams reportedly believe to be a PCL sprain. 

Should that be the case, Rivers could miss multiple weeks.

Should both be forced to miss Sunday's game vs. the Steelers, rookie Zach Evans could get the nod as the starter. 

OCT 15 NOTEBOOM INACTIVE The Los Angeles Rams will be without starting right guard Joe Noteboom vs. the Arizona Cardinals on Sunday afternoon, the team announced. 

Kevin Dotson will likely replace Noteboom in the lineup.

In some good news for the Rams, however, defensive end Ernest Jones will be active and start the game.

Meanwhile, the Cardinals will have the services of explosive wideout Hollywood Brown on Sunday, after he was questionable on the Cardinals' Friday injury report.

OCT 13 FRIDAY UPDATE Los Angeles Rams head coach Sean McVay gave updates before Friday's practice on linebacker Ernest Jones (knee) and offensive lineman Joe Noteboom (groin).

Both are questionable for Sunday's contest with the Arizona Cardinals.

In the event Jones, who wears the "green dot" for Los Angeles, cannot play in Week 6, veteran safety Jordan Fuller will take over play-calling duties. He's the most experienced candidate for that role, but the Rams can pivot elsewhere if need be.

OCT 11 WEDNESDAY INJURY REPORT As the Los Angeles Rams prepare to host the Arizona Cardinals on Sunday, both teams released their first injury reports of the week after Wednesday's practice.

For the Rams, the biggest concern is the status of Jones, one of the leaders for a young defense. Coach Sean McVay said Jones is dealing with some swelling in his knee, but doesn't expect it to impact his availability on Sunday. Against the run-heavy Cardinals, the Rams hope their leading tackler can suit up.

Other than that, two offensive linemen landing on the injury report is also a concern. Noteboom is still dealing with the injury that kept him out of Sunday's loss to the Philadelphia Eagles, while Dotson is a new addition to the report.

On the other side, Brown is easily the most notable name for the Cardinals. He is Arizona's leading receiver with 25 receptions for 300 yards and three touchdowns, and with an unproven quarterback in Joshua Dobbs, losing Brown would be a big blow for Arizona's offense.

OCT 10 BROWN TO IR The Los Angeles Rams suffered a significant loss on Sunday against the Philadelphia Eagles, with defensive lineman Bobby Brown III leaving the game a lower-body injury.

On Tuesday, the severity of that injury was revealed, with Brown set to miss 5-7 weeks with a sprained MCL, per coach Sean McVay.

"Fortunate news on Bobby Brown," McVay said. "He just got his MCL, it was a grade three sprain. He should be out five to seven weeks, so he'll probably be a candidate for short-term IR. Initially, we were thinking that might've been potentially the year, so grateful for that. Not ideal in general, but he was able to come out with what I thought was going to be a worse injury just based on our initial observation so that was a positive thing.”

As a result of that prognosis, the Rams have moved Brown to the injured reserve list.

OCT 8 RAMS VS EAGLES INACTIVES The Los Angeles Rams are set to take the field in a big-time matchup vs. the Philadelphia Eagles on Sunday. 

Unfortunately, they will have to do so without a handful of key contributors, including offensive lineman Joe Noteboom, and receiver DeMarcus Robinson. 

In some good news for L.A. edge Ochaun Mathis and star wideout Cooper Kupp are both active vs. Philadelphia. 

The Eagles will also be without star defensive lineman, Fletcher Cox.

OCT 6 NOTEBOOM OUT? The Los Angeles Rams finally received the big news they've been waiting for on Friday when coach Sean McVay announced the return of star receiver Cooper Kupp.

However, following the good news from McVay, the bad came in the form of the Rams' team website announcing that starting left tackle Joe Noteboom is officially ruled out versus the Philadelphia Eagles on Sunday, while defensive end Desjuan Johnson is "doubtful" after having thumb surgery.

In addition to the return of Kupp, offensive tackle Alaric Jackson is listed as "questionable" for Sunday but is expected to play, according to McVay. 

SEPT 29 FRIDAY INJURY REPORT The Indianapolis Colts and Los Angeles Rams are finishing up practice for the week before their Week 4 contest.

SEPT 28 NACUA AND NOTEBOOM FULL GO Some key players for the Los Angeles Rams have been a bit banged up since the beginning of the season. 

But on Thursday, the Rams got some good news in that regard, with rising star rookie receiver Puka Nacua and offensive lineman Joe Noteboom both full participants in practice. 

However, it wasn't all good news for L.A., with receiver Ben Skowronek (achilles), tight end Tyler Higbee (achilles) and tackle Alaric Jackson (hamstring) all sidelined in practice. 

The Rams will update the report after Friday's practice. 

SEPT 25 INACTIVES VS BENGALS The Los Angeles Rams are set to take on the Cincinnati Bengals on Monday Night Football in a Super Bowl LVI rematch.

And just ahead of the game, the Rams got some good news, with rising star rookie wideout Puka Nacua officially active for the game. 

The Rams also released their inactives, headlined by rookie running back Zach Evans and offensive lineman Kevin Dotson. 

Tackle Warren McClendon and defensive lineman Earnest Brown IV rounded out the inactives. 

Running back Royce Freeman and Receiver Austin Trammell were elevated from the practice squad earlier in the day.

SEPT 23 NACUA LIMITED The Los Angeles Rams may be without breakout rookie receiver Puka Nacua against the Cincinnati Bengals on Monday Night Football.

After not practicing on Thursday, Nacua was limited in practice on Friday with an oblique injury.

Nacua's status should become less cloudy following Saturday's injury report once he gets a designation for Monday's game. However, the fact that he has moved from not practicing to a limited fashion should give the Rams some optimism that he will play.

SEPT 17 NOTEBOOM INJURED Los Angeles Rams starting right guard Joe Noteboom was forced to exit the team's Sunday matchup with the 49ers. 

Noteboom walked off of the field under his own power but has yet to return. 

He was replaced by Tremayne Anchrum and is currently questionable to return. 

SEPT 17 AKERS DEACTIVATED The Los Angeles Rams will be without running back Cam Akers as they are set to host NFC West rivals, the San Francisco 49ers. 

According to a report from Fox Sports' Jay Glazer, Akers was deactivated on Sunday as rumors of a trade continue to swirl after he rushed for 29 yards and a touchdown on 22 carries in the Rams' Week 1 win over the Seattle Seahawks. 

Other Rams inactives include running back Zach Evans, guard Kevin Dotson, tackle Warren McClendon and defensive lineman Desjuan Johnson.

SEPT 16 FREEMAN, TRAMMELL CALLED UP The Los Angeles Rams are bringing two players up from their practice squad.

According to NFL insider Aaron Wilson, running back Royce Freeman and receiver Austin Trammell will come up from the practice squad and suit up against the San Francisco 49ers.

This could mean that rookie receiver Puka Nacua, who dazzled in the team's Week 1 win against the Seattle Seahawks, may not suit up due to an oblique injury.

SEPT 15 NACUA QUESTIONABLE The Los Angeles Rams have listed standout rookie wideout Puka Nacua as questionable for the team's Week 2 matchup with the San Francisco 49ers due to an oblique injury.

According to head coach Sean McVay, Nacua should be ready to go for the game, however.

“From an injury standpoint as far as the game status, the only guy that'll be listed as questionable is (WR) Puka (Nacua)," McVay said. "He'll be just limited today, but I know that questionable status is we are expecting him to be ready to go. We're being smart with him. You guys saw what a physical performance he had last week. He's been involved in every part of it. We just wanted to make sure that we're doing everything we can to get him feeling as good as possible by Sunday."

Nacua is coming off of an electric rookie debut on Sunday against the Seattle Seahawks, in which he hauled in 10 catches for 119 yards on 15 targets.

Three other Rams were also listed as questionable on Friday, including linebacker Ernest Jones and offensive lineman Coleman Shelton.

SEPT 13 BENNET TO NFI Los Angeles Rams rookie backup quarterback Stetson Bennett has been sent to the Reserve/NFI list with an 'undisclosed' injury.

According to coach Sean McVay, the issue is unrelated to his shoulder injury, but he offered no further comment on the matter.
