The Baltimore Ravens found themselves in familiar territory on Saturday, logging a 30-3 victory over the Washington Commanders to bring the 2025 preseason to a close. And while there were plenty of strong performances from players on Baltimore's roster bubble, the biggest development for the Ravens out of this matchup was the return of an organizational staple after a two-year lull.
The Ravens finished the preseason unbeaten. Again.
Baltimore saw a 24-game winning streak in the preseason snapped at the hands of the Commanders in 2023 and then finished the 2024 preseason with a 1-2 record thanks to losses to the Eagles and Packers. 2025 brought a return to the standard for Baltimore, posting three convincing victories over the opposition that now has the team poised to potentially start a new preseason winning streak into the years ahead.
Will it reach 24 games? No, probably not. It's an unheard of amount of consecutive wins for the exhibition season. But despite the lack of true value in the win column for all those wins, it indeed still did matter to coach John Harbaugh and his team as it happened.
"You're proud of it...Tell me that was meaningless out there, what you just saw. If you like football, was that a meaningless football game? That's why I'm so proud of these guys for the way they fought. It doesn't matter win or lose. It matters the way they went about their business," said Harbaugh upon the end of the streak in 2023.
There's great pride to be found in instilling a winning culture in all phases. Baltimore is accustomed to doing so on all fronts, whether that's the regular season, the postseason, or even the preseason. And with a convincing, lopsided victory over the Commanders, Baltimore's preseason culture made a triumphant return in 2025. And now it's time to see how well it carries over to the games that will count when playing for keeps for this year's team.
