RECRUITING: Chaotic Recruitment Ends for 2025 OL With Flip from Big Ten to Big 12

There are plenty of chaotic recruiting processes nowadays. Another example of this came to an end yesterday when former Oregon signee OL Alai Kalaniuvalu signed with BYU.

Having played the final two seasons of his high school football at national power Biship Gorman in Las Vegas, Kalaniuvalu initially committed to the Ducks back in July, before flipping to BYU in November. However, a month later he flipped back to Oregon, where he signed in December. Yesterday, the roller coaster seems to have come to a full stop with him signing with the Cougars after being released by Oregon.

While he most recently played high school football in Las Vegas, he began his career at Timpview, which happens to be in Provo, Utah, home of the Cougars. This is a relationship that brought him back home on Tuesday.

For Oregon it was another tough recruiting loss for a program that has become accustomed to winning. Kalaniuvalu became the third Class of 2025 signee who won’t be playing with the Ducks, following wide receiver Dallas Wilson, who signed with Florida after being released, and quarterback Jaron Keawe Sagapolutele, who enrolled in December but transferred to Cal in January.
