This is an extremely busy time for high school recruits with plenty of new offers going out and official visits being scheduled. One of the latest to receive a new offer was Class of 2026 LB Adam Shaw of Pascack Valley High School in New Jersey.
Thank you @JoeS_Rossi @Coach_Smith for the opportunity! I’m extremely blessed to receive an offer from Michigan State and to carry on the family legacy. #SpartanDawg #PassTheTorch #BigTen @PValleyFootball @dbacks_academy @SimmsComplete @MSU_Football pic.twitter.com/DnsY3cEEXc

The offer from the Spartans means a little more because his father, Scott Shaw, was an offensive lineman in East Lansing from 1995 to 1997. During his time at Michigan State he earned First-Team All-American honors as a senior.
As for the younger Shaw, who is 6-foot-3 and 205-pounds, he was more known as a quarterback than a linebacker until the offers started to roll in for his defensive talents. And they have come in quickly, first from FCS programs like Monmouth, Cornell, Fordham, Wagner, Maine, Bucknell and Georgetown, then G5 programs like James Madison, Old Dominion, UConn, UMass and most recently from Power 4’s like Rutgers, Pittsburgh and the Spartans.
Being from New Jersey, Shaw is very familiar with the Rutgers program and has already taken multiple visits to campus over the last two years. He has also scheduled an official visit next weekend as well as one to Pittsburgh on June 6th. Michigan State will be looking to become his third visit as they hope to make up for lost ground.
Will his father’s history with the program be enough to sway Shaw? Only time will tell, but that shouldn’t take too long with how fast recruiting moves during the spring.
