Ohio State’s 2025 recruiting class is ranked No. 1 in the country and is as talented as a class you will see come through Columbus. However, the Buckeyes could be on the brink of taking a major hit to the class.
Five-star cornerback Na’eem Offord has been committed to Ohio State since February but is a flip candidate as we get into the fall. Offord has taken a recent unofficial visit to Auburn and it could be a place he lands and signs.
According to On3’s Steve Wiltfong, some people believe the Tigers have a great chance to take the Ohio State commitment.
"There's people around Na'eem Offord that think that Auburn has a great chance here," said Wilftong. "But Ohio State's done a fantastic job. The relationship with Coach Walton, the trust that they have in Coach Walton to develop him on the field and off the field."
Offord is one of four five-star players committed to play in Columbus and would be a pretty big loss. Devin Sanchez is another five-star commit and the Buckeyes had a nice class last go around in 2024, but it is a loss no matter how you look at it. Bringing in two more blue-chip players a year after landing Bryce West and Aaron Scott could have been a huge run.
All Ohio State can do is hold on and they seem to be doing a good job of that, according to the report. In today’s recruiting game, you never have a player until they sign and even then the transfer portal is just right there. Offord is a 6-foot-1 cornerback from the state of Alabama. He is right there in SEC country, so it is not hard to see why a program like Auburn is so involved.
The recruitment will be one to follow the next few weeks and until signing day. Holding on would be huge for the Buckeyes but there is some doubt that they can do that.
