In recruiting news, Penn State is hosting a star from Florida’s famous IMG Academy.

IMG is one of the most prestigious athletic programs in the country, and one of the football program’s best players is Jake Kreul.

Kreul, the 6-foot-3, 235-pound four-star EDGE from the Class of 2026, wrote to X (formerly Twitter) Friday morning that he’s in Happy Valley for a visit.

This is a guy Penn State badly wants to have.

Kruel might not be far away from five-star status. 247Sports’ composite ratings have him as the No. 54 overall player in the country, the No. 6 EDGE in the nation and the No. 7 overall player in Florida from his class.

Here’s some more on Penn State football’s recruiting efforts of  Kreul. PSU offered him in May but he hasn’t visited since.

Kreul has plenty of time to pick a school. But based on a recent interview with 247Sports,  Penn State doesn’t appear to be one of his top options at the moment.

“Ohio State recruits me pretty hard,” Kreul said.  “Oklahoma, Miami is coming after me really hard.”

247 reported that Kreul is impressed with Ohio State’s defensive line play in recent years.

“Coach (Larry) Johnson’s track record and resume speaks for itself so it wasn’t too surprising to see how they were playing,” he said.”

Perhaps an addition to Penn State’s staff can help sway Kreul.

It’s unclear how much Jim Knowles recruited Kreul when he was at Ohio State. But it’s clear that Knowles isn’t at Ohio State anymore and is at Penn State instead.

It’s a good bet that Kreul will spend some time with Knowles in State College this weekend, so we’ll see what happens.

Kreul told 247Sports he plans on deciding either in June or July.
