Reggie Miller's Pregame Exchange With Spike Lee Catches Attention
Mark J. Rebilas-USA TODAY Sports

Late Wednesday afternoon, as the Indiana Pacers vs New York Knicks prepared for Game 4 of the Eastern Conference Finals at Gainbridge Fieldhouse, a video clip began circulating online showing former Pacers legend Reggie Miller and Knicks superfan Spike Lee sharing an affectionate embrace and laughter courtside.

Coming into the game, the series itself was set at 2-1 in Indiana’s favor after New York's comeback in Game 3.

Karl-Anthony Towns poured in 24 points, including 20 in the fourth quarter, to overcome a 20-point deficit and stave off elimination, shifting momentum back to the road team.

The brief moment between Miller and Lee serves as a reminder of one of the NBA’s most storied rivalries.

Both Knicks and Pacers fans instantly reacted to the post.

"They're BFFs now! ," said one user

"Epic ," replied another user.

"Hilarious response by Spike ," said one other commenter

"I love seeing this!" commented another user

"Spike the OG," responded one Knicks fan

"Can't wait for Reggie to cry on the broadcast," another fan responded

Miller spent his entire 18-year NBA career with the Pacers, retiring in 2005 as the franchise’s all-time leading scorer and ranking sixth in league history in three-pointers made (2,560).

A five-time All-Star (1995, 1996, 1998, 2000, 2002) and member of the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame (2012), Miller had his No. 31 jersey retired by Indiana in 2006.

One of his most memorable moments came when he poured in 39 points (25 in the fourth quarter alone) in Game 5 of the 1994 Eastern Conference Finals to rally the Pacers to a 93-86 win at Madison Square Garden, famously taunting Spike Lee with a choke gesture from the sideline.

The Knicks-Pacers rivalry dates back to February 9, 1977, but it reached its zenith in the mid-1990s with multiple playoff clashes.
