Earlier in September, it was reported that Taylor Swift could potentially headline the Super Bowl LX halftime show. Well, it looks like the NFL isn’t putting all of its eggs in her basket.
According to Front Office Sports, Adele is in consideration for the gig as well: “Adele has reportedly been ‘approached’ about performing at the Super Bowl halftime show,” FOS posted on X. “Commissioner Roger Goodell recently added to the speculation that Taylor Swift may be the choice, calling it a ‘maybe.'”
Swift is certainly the big fish, but she’s been hesitant in the past. Adele would still be a major get for the NFL, even if she’s not on Swift’s level — not many, if any, are, to be fair.
Evidently, Swift and Adele aren’t the only options in the running at the moment, either. Daily Mail reported the NFL could opt to go the country music route with Post Malone and Jelly Roll as headliners following their success on Malone’s most recent album, F-1 Trillion.
Regardless, Swift’s name remains the hot one around the Super Bowl halftime show, though it was previously believed she wanted to wait to perform until Travis Kelce retired. During an appearance on Good Morning America, Goodell said the NFL would be all-in on bringing Swift to Santa Clara.
“We would always love to have Taylor play,” Goodell said. “She is a special, special talent, and obviously she would be welcome at any time.”
Goodell also joked he’s “waiting on” Jay-Z to make that call. He and his company, Roc Nation, produce the halftime shows each year.
Moreover, Swift has had a constant presence at Kansas City Chiefs games since she started dating Kelce in 2023. Their relationship began shortly after Kelce went on his podcast and expressed his disappointment that he didn’t get to meet Swift at a concert at Arrowhead – a moment she called a “man-tantrum” during an appearance on his New Heights podcast.
The couple has been the talk of the sports and entertainment worlds since. During their first year together, Kelce got a Super Bowl ring with the Chiefs. Now, Swift has a ring of her own after he proposed in a moment captured in the Instagram post heard ’round the world.
It turns out, Kelce proposed to Swift around the time she appeared on his podcast alongside his brother Jason, according to his father, Ed. She announced her album The Life of a Showgirl, which will be released in October, in a rare interview with the two brothers.
Time will tell which artist the NFL lands on for Super Bowl LX. Regardless, they try to do it bigger and better each year, and Swift would certainly be the biggest artist they could land at the moment.
