Report: Deion Sanders ‘would almost certainly accept’ Dallas Cowboys coaching job if offered

Former ESPN reporter Ed Werder suggested Colorado head coach Deion Sanders “would almost certainly accept” an offer from Jerry Jones to become the next head coach of the Dallas Cowboys.

“Regarding Deion Sanders: I’m being told that he would almost certainly accept if Jerry Jones offers to make him the next Cowboys head coach,” Werder tweeted Thursday morning, “that those around him are encouraging him to pursue it and that Jones is enamored with the idea.”

Speculation surrounding Sanders and the Cowboys now-open head coaching vacancy have hit a boiling point in recent days following news that Jones and Sanders have had preliminary discussions about the position in the days since parting ways with now-former Dallas head coach Mike McCarthy.
