This addition would bring Conference USA to 11 teams starting in 2025. CUSA had nine teams in 2023 and will add Kennesaw State in 2024.
The Delaware Blue Hens' football program won their only FCS National Championship in 2003 under current Sam Houston head coach K.C. Keeler. Delware's current head coach is Ryan Carty, who spent four years as Keeler's offensive coordinator at Sam Houston and quarterbacked the national championship team.
Delaware also claims five national championships at the Division II level between 1946 and 1979.
The Blue Hens have qualified for the FCS playoffs five times in the last 13 years. Delaware plays a second round FCS playoff game against Montana this week.
