Probably the biggest takeaway from the first week of training camp has been James Pearce Jr., who has been a huge problem for the Falcons offensive line. Everybody in the building seems to have recognized pretty quickly that he’s a ball player, someone that could have a huge impact on Atlanta’s defense in his first season.
That’s a very promising development because there were a lot of red flags surrounding James Pearce Jr. leading up to the draft, which caused him to fall all the way to the back of the first round. The Falcons saw an opportunity, and they pounced, trusting their pre-draft homework and moving back into the first round to select the Tennessee product.
Raheem Morris and Terry Fontenot are hoping that Pearce, along with Jalon Walker, can help completely revamp a Falcons defense that was among the worst in the league last season. But unlike Pearce, Walker hasn’t been participating early on in training camp, raising some concern.
Thankfully, Morris said today that there’s no reason to worry. Walker is dealing with a very minor hamstring injury and has been champing at the bit to get on the field.
Jalon Walker has a "small hamstring issue" and will not be out for the full practice today.
Plan will be to go full speed indy then keep being cautious with him.

Morris does not seem concerned at all that this is something that will keep Jalon Walker out for much longer. However, soft tissue injuries are always tricky, and with a player as valuable as the former Georgia Bulldogs star, it’s better to be cautious this time of year.
