Of course, he’s known for his four-year run with the Gophers, which lasted from 2007 through seven games of the 2010 season.
Brewster was known for all kinds of gimmicks and interesting phrases, including “Get that chili hot,” but never turned in a good season.
After going 1-11 his first year, Minnesota went 7-6 and lost in the Insight Bowl. That was the best year, as a 6-7 season, culminating in another Insight Bowl loss, followed before the team’s 1-6 start in 2010 cost Brewster his job.
Since then, he’s bounced around to several schools as a tight ends coach, making stops at Mississippi State (WR coach), Florida State, Texas A&M, North Carolina, Florida, Jackson State and Colorado before landing at Charlotte.
The 49ers are 3-7 this season and have lost four straight. Brewster will now lead the team for its final two games at Florida Atlantic and vs. UAB.
