Inter Milan have reportedly made an offer worth €16 million for Fenerbahce defender Yusuf Akcicek.
This according to today’s print edition of Rome-based newspaper Corriere dello Sport, via FCInterNews. They report that Fenerbahce are holding out for €20 million.
Inter Milan are reportedly looking to sign a defender before the transfer window slams shut.
The Nerazzurri have completed their fourth signing of the summer in the form of Andy Diouf. However, one area they have yet to strengthen in is at the back.
Therefore, Inter are working to find the right profile for their aging backline.
According to the Corriere dello Sport, one name that has appeared on Inter’s shortlist is Fenerbahce defender Yusuf Akcicek.
The 19-year-old is a player who has convinced the Nerazzurri that he can earn a spot in their team for the future.
Akcicek has emerged as a regular starter for Fenerbahce under Jose Mourinho. Meanwhile, he has also won his first caps for the Turkish national team this year.
According to the Corriere dello Sport, Inter have already made an offer for Akcicek.
The newspaper report that the Nerazzurri have lodged a bid of €16 million.
However, Fenerbahce do not consider that to be high enough. Therefore, they have responded with a counteroffer of €20 million.
Meanwhile, Fenerbahce coach Mourinho is hoping to keep hold of Akcicek for at least one more season.
At the moment, the Corriere report, Inter are not planning to raise their offer to meet Fenerbahce’s demands.
And in the meantime, Paris Saint-Germain and some clubs in the Bundesliga are also keeping tabs on Akcicek according to the Corriere.
