Inter Milan’s transfer plans for the remainder of the window reportedly hinge on the future of Benjamin Pavard.

This according to today’s print edition of Milan-based newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport, via FCInterNews. They report that if the Frenchman leaves, Inter will seek a like-for-like replacement.

Inter Milan are reportedly looking to sign a defender before the transfer window slams shut.

The Nerazzurri have completed their fourth signing of the summer in the form of Andy Diouf. However, one area they have yet to strengthen in is at the back.

Therefore, Inter are working to find the right profile for their aging backline.

As such, the Gazzetta report, the search for a defender will be the priority task before deadline day.

Inter Transfer Plans Hinge On Future Of Benjamin Pavard

However, the Gazzetta anticipate, much will depend on the future of Benjamin Pavard.

The 29-year-old has been the subject of transfer speculation this summer. Reportedly, the likes of Galatasaray and Neom are still pushing for his signature.

If Inter were to sell Pavard, then they would target a defender who can replace him immediately.

Therefore, the Nerazzurri would look to sign a player ready to become a regular starter this season.

On the other hand, if Pavard stays then Inter will skew younger in their search.

Therefore, the Nerazzurri would take a similar approach to that of their signings in other positions. They would target a player with significant room for growth in future seasons, but not someone ready to start regularly.
