Roma expert Filippo Biafora reports that ‘some’ intermediaries are working to bring Roma striker Artem Dovbyk to Newcastle.
Intermediaries are trying to find a way to bring Roma striker Dovbyk to Newcastle, according to Il Tempo journalist Filippo Biafora.
Dovbyk didn’t start in Roma’s opening Serie A game against Bologna on Saturday and failed to impress Gian Piero Gasperini during the pre-season, contrary to Brighton loanee Evan Ferguson.
Biafora wrote on X, formerly Twitter, that ‘some intermediaries’ have been in talks with Newcastle to open a formal negotiation and bring the Ukraine international to St. James’ Park as the Magpies are looking for a new centre-forward.
Dovbyk joined Roma for circa €30m from Girona a year ago after becoming the best La Liga goalscorer in the 2023-24 campaign.
The 28-year-old has scored 17 goals in 46 appearances with Roma, and his contract at the Stadio Olimpico runs out in June 2029.
Roma’s next Serie A game is away at Pisa on August 30.
