Cremonese have agreed terms with Olympique Marseille for striker Faris Moumbagna, claim Sky Sport Italia, and he should have his medical on Tuesday.

This should be a loan with option to buy at the end of the season.

It is a surprising swoop for the 25-year-old centre-forward, who has nine senior caps for Cameroon.

The well-travelled player has spent time in the USA, Norway and Denmark, moving from Bodo/Glimt to Olympique Marseille at a cost of €8m in January 2024.

Moumbagna career stalled by injury

He made only 21 competitive appearances in the Marseille jersey, but still managed to contribute a healthy four goals and two assists.

Moumbagna tore the anterior cruciate ligament in his knee in August 2024, ruling him out for practically the entire season.

Cremonese got off to a perfect start for the new season following promotion into Serie A via the play-offs, as they opened the campaign with a shock 2-1 victory away to Milan at San Siro.

Meanwhile, Cremonese have officially handed Lorenzo Moretti to Virtus Entella, on loan with an option to buy at the end of the season.
