PSV Eindhoven have reportedly leapfrogged Panathinaikos in the race to capture the services of Inter Milan flop Mehdi Taremi.

According to Sport Mediaset via FCInterNews, the Peasants are now the front-runners to sign the veteran striker.

Mehdi Taremi joined Inter on a free transfer last summer with high expectations.

However, after a dismal first season in Serie A, the Italian giants have put him up for sale.

Despite drawing a lot of inquiries, the 33-year-old has yet to find a new club.

PSV Ahead of Panathinaikos in Race to Sign Inter Milan Bust Mehdi Taremi

After turning down Flamengo’s offer earlier in the summer, Taremi appears ready to make the move to the Eredivisie.

Indeed, the Inter outcast is hellbent on playing in one of Europe’s traditional top-five leagues this season.

Though PSV do not fit that category, they’re Taremi’s best chance to compete at the international level.

Panathinaikos could also be a decent option for the Iranian star, as Sassuolo cannot offer the lure of European football.

Yet, talks between PSV and Inter are still in the early stages.
