Cincinnati basketball's top rival will have a new coach next season. The Austin American-Statesman's Cedric Golden reported Texas is moving on from head coach Rodney Terry and swiftly hiring Xavier's Sean Miller.
Miller has been at Xavier for the past three seasons after coaching there from 2004-09 to start his head coaching run at the D1 level. He is 2-1 against Cincinnati in the Crosstown Shootout since returning to Norwood, making it to two NCAA Tournaments.
Texas moved fast to get a deal done with Miller ahead of tomorrow's transfer portal opening start date.
Context: Miller was strongly in the mix to get the Texas job two years ago, when Rodney Terry took UT to the Elite Eight (beating Xavier in the process). He always remained high on UT AD Chris Del Conte's list. His name has been heavily rumored for the impending opening for weeks
