PHOENIX — Phoenix Rising went scoreless in Friday’s match against the Lexington SC, losing 1-0.

Rising maintained possession most of the match and had eight shot attempts. However, none were on target. Lexington has eight shot attempts, with three on target and one goal. Michael Adedokun scored the only goal of the match in the 34th minute, which was enough for the win.

Phoenix head coach Pa-Modou Kah spoke to reporters after the match and said the team let too many opportunities pass by. He said they could’ve done better with goal shots.

“Sometimes in football, these things happen in terms of you not taking the opportunities that [are] in front of you,” Kah said. “And it’s painful, but we’ve got to learn and move on.”

Rising are 5-5-5 halfway through the USL Championship season.

Phoenix Rising will have an opportunity to bounce back, on the road, against the Oakland Roots on July 12.
