PHOENIX — Phoenix Rising secured their fourth win of the season after defeating the Orange County SC, 3-1, on Saturday, June 7.

Hot As The Desert

Rising took an early lead in the first half of the match, with a goal from Dariusz Formella breaking the scoreless tie in the 21st minute. Orange County answered back to tie it up with a goal from Vuk Lutinovich in the 58th minute. However, that was Orange County’s only goal in the match.

Phoenix took the lead back ten minutes later from an Ascel Essengue goal in the 68th minute. Charlie Dennis made a third goal for Rising in the 72nd minute and sealed the 3-1 win.

Head coach Pa-Madou Kah spoke with the media after the match and said he was happy but still unsatisfied. Winning can make you lose sight of what’s around you and for Kah, the goal never changes.

“For me and for my staff and the players, we have one goal in mind and that goal never changes,” he said. “Whether we’re winning or losing, we’re on a good momentum, and we want to carry that momentum by doing the little things right.”

To The Next
