Robyn Herron Throws No-Hitter as Arkansas Remains Undefeated

In a spectacular pitching showcase, junior left-hander Robyn Herron cemented her name in Arkansas softball history by tossing the program’s 12th no-hitter on Sunday. Herron’s dominant performance led the No. 13 Razorbacks (10-0) to a commanding 10-0 run-rule victory over Louisiana Monroe (ULM) in just five innings. The win secured Arkansas’s best start to a season in program history, surpassing the previous 9-0 mark set in 2018.

Herron’s No-Hit Masterclass

Herron (3-0) was nearly untouchable in the circle, striking out a season-high 11 batters while throwing 49 of her 71 pitches for strikes. She bookended her no-hitter by striking out the side to start and end the game, showcasing pinpoint control and overpowering stuff. Only three ULM batters managed to reach base—two via walks in the second and fourth innings and one on a dropped third strike in the fourth.

“It was really, really nice to wrap up the weekend with that,” Arkansas head coach Courtney Deifel said. “She was just really dialed in. It was a really good matchup, but then her stuff was working, and she was in really good control.”

With her dominant outing, Herron lowered her season earned run average to an impressive 0.74 over 19 innings pitched.

Offensive Explosion Fuels Razorbacks

While Herron kept the Warhawks hitless, Arkansas’s offense erupted early to provide plenty of run support. An eight-run second inning broke the game open, featuring key hits from multiple Razorback batters.

  • Kailey Wyckoff ripped a two-run double down the right-field line to start the scoring.
  • Back-to-back bases-loaded walks by Bri Ellis and Cylie Halvorson extended the lead to 4-0.
  • Raigan Kramer’s two-RBI single pushed the advantage to 6-0.
  • Atalyia Rijo capped the offensive onslaught with a two-run double to left-center, giving Arkansas an 8-0 cushion.

The Razorbacks added two more runs in the third inning, courtesy of a ULM throwing error and a sacrifice fly from Ellis, who finished the weekend with 15 RBIs.

Sealing the No-Hitter in Style

With a 10-0 lead in the fifth inning, Herron stepped into the circle looking to complete her masterpiece. She quickly struck out Layla Thompson on three pitches, then fanned pinch hitter Kennan Nunamaker swinging. The final out came emphatically as Herron struck out ULM right fielder Carys Platt, securing her no-hitter and capping a dominant weekend for the Razorbacks.

Looking Ahead

Arkansas will look to extend its perfect start when it heads to California for the Mary Nutter Collegiate Classic. The Razorbacks open the tournament on Thursday with matchups against Rutgers (11:30 a.m. CT) and Cal State Fullerton (2 p.m. CT). With Herron in top form and the offense firing on all cylinders, Arkansas is poised for continued success as it aims to make a deep run this season.
