With difficulties getting Jadon Sancho and Tyrique George, Roma have reportedly asked Liverpool for information on the availability of Italy international Federico Chiesa.

New coach Gian Piero Gasperini is seeking an attacking wide man to bolster his 3-4-3 formation, but their attempts to secure players for the role have hit problems.

Manchester United had agreed terms only for Sancho to turn them down, then Chelsea demanded €30m plus add-ons and a big sell-on fee clause for 19-year-old George.

Roma turning to Chiesa alternative

It is pushing Roma on to different targets, as Retesport claim that they asked Liverpool for the availability of Chiesa.

This conversation was seemingly had during the negotiations between the two clubs for Liverpool defender Kostas Tsimikas.

The question marks over Chiesa are not just his wages and transfer fee, but above all his fitness levels, having barely featured last season following the move from Juventus.

He made a strong start to this campaign, scoring in the Premier League opener, but his playing time is again likely to be very limited at Anfield.
