Reports in Italy claim that Roma are nearing a decision to abandon their pursuit of Manchester United winger Jadon Sancho, and that they will instead turn their attention to Chelsea teenager Tyrique George instead.

Sancho says no to Roma, George for the Giallorossi

For several weeks, Roma have been attempting to secure a deal for Manchester United’s Sancho, but have still not yet received the player’s approval.

Football Italia understands that Sancho has not definitively ruled out a move to the Stadio Olimpico up until this point, but according to updates from Gianluca Di Marzio, the Giallorossi learned that the player is unlikely to say ‘yes’ after a meeting between director Frederic Massara and the player’s representatives in England on Tuesday.

With Sancho now effectively out of the picture, Tuesday evening’s update claims that Roma will now focus their attention on the signing of George from Chelsea instead.

The 19-year-old winger is reportedly of interest to a number of Bundesliga sides, but is already showing a willingness to join Roma before the end of the transfer window.

Di Marzio adds that George is not interested in leaving Chelsea on loan, and that Roma are prepared to make a significant investment to land him on a permanent deal.

Massara is reportedly working in collaboration with representatives from Chelsea and the player’s agent in an attempt to get approval for the move.
