Roma put in a convincing performance to beat Bologna 1-0 on Saturday, and even if match-winner Wesley was named MOTM, Republic of Ireland international Evan Ferguson impressed the Italian media.

Roma started the new Serie A campaign off on the right foot, beating Bologna 1-0 at the Stadio Olimpico on Saturday.

New signing Wesley scored the winner in the second half, making the most of a mistake from John Lucumi, who infuriated the Rossoblu coach, Vincenzo Italiano.

Wesley received the MOTM award from Lega Serie A, and Italian newspapers agreed that he was the best player on the pitch last night.

Wesley was rated 7/10, just as much as Manu Koné and Ferguson.

Ferguson ‘moved well’ wrote Gazzetta dello Sport, and provided a ‘jewel’ of an assist to Koné, who missed a big chance to double the lead in the second half.

Ferguson started over Artem Dovyk in attack and, according to Gazzetta, the Ukraine international was the most disappointing Roma player last night, receiving a 5.5/10 mark.

All the other Roma players received a passing grade, equal to or higher than 6/10, from Gazzetta dello Sport.
