Roman Reigns Catches Strays From Conor McGregor For Attending UFC 250

A lot of big personalities and well-known athletes were in attendance for UFC 250 on Sunday night. However, for some reason, Conor McGregor has taken issue with Roman Reigns being their live to take in the action.

Conor McGregor Isn't Happy With Roman Reigns

Reigns was one of many WWE Superstars to attend UFC 250 over the weekend, the UFC event that took place on the White House lawn. TKO, seeing the opportunity to cross-promote WWE and UFC, the two promotions that merged to create the company when WWE was acquired, shared an image of Reigns at the event, promoting UFC 250 in the process, which was live on Paramount Plus at the time the photo was shared on X.

In the hours since, McGregor has replied to TKO's post with "Who?", implying he doesn't know who The OTC is. While there's a strong chance that's true, the real reason McGregor picked on Reigns became clearer in the post he shared shortly after taking aim at the WWE Superstar.

"The platforming of our athletes within the business was not capitalised on enough, in my opinion," McGregor posted in his follow-up. "I don’t know who the f*ck these guys are that have never fought MMA yet were visibly all over the show." The former UFC Champion is clearly upset that non-MMA stars took up so much of the oxygen at what was, in some ways, the most noteworthy UFC event of all time.

As unfair as it was to kick off making that point by taking a pot shot at Reigns for simply being there, there's an argument to be made that McGregor makes a valid point. The focus of a UFC event should really be the fighters. That wasn't really the case on Sunday. It was more about the big names that were there, along with the unbelievable backdrop for the event.

The trouble is, not only was that always going to be the case, but for most involved, it was likely the goal. The fights themselves were very much secondary to the fact that they were going down on the White House lawn. It was the spectacle of it all and the politics behind making it happen that were the real reasons for the event taking place.

As for why Reigns, there's an outside chance that this is the revival of a potential McGregor appearance in WWE. There's even previous between the two of them that suggests to me McGregor is very aware of who Reigns is. In 2019, amid rumors that McGregor might trade in the octagon for the squared circle, Reigns responded to chatter by suggesting WWE had the perfect spot for him on 205 Live, the now-defunct show that was created to spotlight the promotion's cruiserweights.
