The Cleveland Browns completely revamped their backfield coming out of the NFL Draft in April. They added not one, but two highly regarded ball carriers to their stable in Quinshon Judkins and Dylan Sampson.
For Judkins, that selection did not take him far from where he spent his final college season. Judkins helped guide the Ohio State Buckeyes to a national championship back in January.
Flash forward a few months and now he starts his professional career two hours from "The Shoe." As he revealed in a Q&A with Sports Illustrated, joining the Browns makes him feel at home.
"Everything went by really fast throughout the whole process. You just meet so many people. Before I got to Cleveland—going on visits, formal meetings, different things of that nature—but when I finally went down to Cleveland, I didn’t have any stress or any different feeling because I already felt like I was at home.
"Didn’t have to drive or fly anywhere super far. It’s only two hours. I was back home in Cleveland, so I was excited to get to work and see all the staff again and see my teammates and people I look forward to making a lot of accomplishments with.
It will be an uphill battle for Judkins and the Browns who will attempt to climb out of the 3-14 hole in which they ended the 2024 season. They have added a solid class of rookies to the group but face some uncertainty with Deshaun Watson potentially out for the season as he recovers from an Achilles injury.
Nonetheless, there is opportunity for Judkins to showcase himself through the offseason and once the season kicks off in the fall. Judkins had one of the most explosive and athletic profiles coming out of the draft this year.
While Cleveland - as they move on from Nick Chubb - sorts through their quarterback situation, the young skilled position players like Judkins will be called upon to provide a boost.
It will be a step up for the second-round pick though feeling at home certainly gives him a leg up as he navigates this process.
