The San Francisco Giants have gotten off to a strong start this season. In the first 16 games of the year, the Giants have mustered up a 12-4 record.

One of the big reasons for their hot start has been the play of 26-year-old outfielder Jung Hoo Lee.

Lee, who hails from Nagoya, Japan, is playing in his second season in San Francisco. Last year, he played in 37 total games, hitting two home runs to go along with eight RBI's and a slash line of .262/.310/.331.

So far this season, he has been hitting the baseball at a historical rate.

As shared by @jayhaykid , a contributor for Underdog, Lee has entered Willie Mays territory with his start to the year at the plate. He is the first Giants' player to hit at least .350 with 12 or more extra base hits and three stolen bases in his first 14 games of the season since Mays did it back in 1964.

Those numbers were recorded prior to Monday's 10-4 win over the Philadelphia Phillies. Lee did not record a hit in five at-bats.

He has played in 15 games so far this season, hitting three home runs, driving in 11 RBI's, and recording a slash line of .322/.394/.644.

Speaking of hot starts from San Francisco players, Wilmer Flores has been impressive early on as well. In 16 games, he has hit six home runs to go along with 20 RBI's and a slash line of .254/.279/.559.

It's early in the season, but the Giants are in second place in the NL West division race and are looking like a potential contender.
