Scottie Scheffler Shocks Jimmy Fallon to Celebrate Open Championship Victory
Rob Schumacher-USA TODAY Sports

Scottie Scheffler capped off a stellar weekend by winning the 2025 Open Championship at Royal Portrush. The World No.1 sealed the deal with a final-round 68, finishing four shots ahead of Harris English. His second-round 64 on Friday set the tone, and from there, he barely looked back. It was his third major title, and now, with only the U.S. Open left, Scheffler is just one trophy away from completing the career Grand Slam.

But Scheffler wasn’t done grabbing headlines. On Monday night, he made a surprise appearance on 'The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon.' Fallon, in the middle of his monologue, had just started congratulating Scheffler. “He just won the 2025 Open Championship. Now he's only one title away from a career grand slam,” Fallon said to applause.

Fallon then joked with the audience, asking for a picture of Scheffler with the trophy only for the screens to flash solo photos of Scottie or just the Claret Jug. “I really want to see Scotty and the trophy,” Fallon laughed until Scheffler himself walked out to a standing ovation.

“Oh my God! That is... It's the British Open winner, Scotty Scheffler!” Fallon shouted, before the two posed for a selfie with the audience.

Scheffler’s laid-back appearance mirrors his grounded mindset. Ahead of The Open, he made it clear golf is what he does, not who he is. Despite the pressure, he reminded fans, “Sport does not constitute life.” Yet, his dominance speaks for itself: two Masters wins, a PGA title, and now, The Open.

As the Claret Jug finds a place on his shelf, Scheffler’s next target is the U.S. Open. With his calm demeanor and strong game, it’s hard to bet against him checking off that final box.
