Reserve goalkeeper Ali Adams scored a stunning goal from long range for Arbroath against Raith Rovers in the Scottish Championship on Saturday.

Due to an injury crisis, Arbroath had only been able to name 15 players in their matchday squad, rather than the maximum number of 20.

This meant that Arbroath had just four available substitutes.

Three of those subs were then made by the start of the second half.

So, when center-back Aaron Steele picked up an injury in the 58th minute, keeper Adams was the only option to replace him.

Adams was sent on to play as a striker and he justified that bold call on 76 minutes when he hammered a brilliant shot into the top corner from 30 yards.

This was not the first goal of Adams' career. The Scottish stopper once found the net from a 55-yard free-kick while playing for Tranent Juniors.

His goal on Saturday sparked an impressive comeback by Arbroath, who had been 2-0 down at Raith.

The game eventually ended 2-2 after Leighton McIntosh equalized from a penalty kick in the 81st minute.
