With his athletic tools, the Seattle Seahawks were thrilled that Jalen Milroe was available to take in the third round of the 2025 NFL Draft. The former Alabama Crimson Tide quarterback learned he'd be wearing No. 6 with his new team.

According to Pro Football Reference , Milroe will be the seventh player to sport the number for the Seahawks. Punters Frank Garcia wore it in 1981 and Russell Griffith in 1987. Quarterbacks Charlie Whitehurst (2010-11), Austin Davis (2017), and Sam Howell (2024) pulled it on. As did cornerback Quandre Diggs, from 2021-23.

Jalen Milroe wore two numbers as a collegian, No. 2 and No. 4. He explained last year why he switched to the latter.

"My birthday is December 13th," Milroe said. "So you add one and three, you get four. I chose that when I was younger. One of my coaches told me growing up, Jacobi Walker, he introduced me to four. He told me, 'You should be four.' And he was like, 'How many quarters are in a game? Four?' So my birthday and that situation."

Jalen Milroe initially wore No. 2 because running back Brian Robinson already had it when he arrived on campus in 2021. Milroe arrived at No. 2 by instead subtracting one from three.

Milroe will get used to his new digit during the Seahawks' rookie minicamp, which will take place May 3-6 at the Virginia Mason Athletic Center. He and his fellow Seattle newcomers will begin soaking in the playbook and adjusting to the professional gridiron.
