Seahawks Make Major Jalen Milroe Announcement

The Seattle Seahawks signed former Alabama Crimson Tide standout Jalen Milroe to a four-year rookie contract, the team announced on Tuesday. The quarterback will make $6.26 million during that span.

"It's definitely a great feeling," Milroe said. "To be able to have an organization that's behind you—they selected me out of all the individuals that were placed in the draft, I was one of their selections in this year's draft. So I'm tremendously happy that I have the support of the organization, but now it's all about putting our best foot forward moving forward for the organization and for the guys in the locker room."

Seahawks head coach Mike Macdonald thinks highly of Milroe's dual-threat ability. He's said he plans on using Milroe as a quarterback and not a do-everything player.

"Quarterbacks that extend the play are incredibly difficult to defend," Macdonald said earlier this month. "The worst feeling in the world is you play the first play of the play perfectly on defense, you defend it (and think), 'Alright, sweet. We did it.' Then the guy still has the ball. You've got to defend the next play, sometimes a third play.

"He can kill you in the first play, the second play, the third play. It's not a fun existence to live consistently. He has that ability."

Milroe was the No. 92 overall pick of the 2025 NFL Draft, ahead of guys like Shedeur Sanders and Will Howard. He turned heads with his performance at Alabama's pro day, including a blazing 40-yard dash that had coaches drooling at the thought of inserting him into their attack.
