The Seattle Seahawks have signed cornerback Kam Alexander and nose tackle Justin Rodgers, the team announced Monday. In a corresponding move, the Seahawks waived rookie cornerback Zy Alexander with a non-football injury.

Rogers was a seventh-round draft pick to the Dallas Cowboys last season and made the 53-man roster. However, he did not appear in any games for the team. He originally began his college career at Kentucky before transferring to Auburn to finish things out, recording 17 tackles and a sack in his final season.

Rogers played high school football at Oak Park in Detroit, where he was a four-star prospect in the 2020 class. He also ranked as the No. 1 recruit from the state of Michigan according to the Rivals Industry Ranking, an equally weighted average that utilizes all three major recruiting services.

Kam Alexander went undrafted out of Oregon this past season but participated in the Seahawks’ rookie minicamp. He didn’t record many stats in his lone year with the Ducks, but had 34 tackles, two interceptions and 15 passes defended the year prior at UTSA.

Zy Alexander signed with the Seahawks in April after going undrafted out of LSU. His five-year college totals wrapped at 174 tackles and 13 interceptions, highlighted by a six-pick second season at Southeastern Louisiana in 2021.

Overall, Zy Alexander appeared in 19 games for LSU, which included 18 starts. He’d go on to finish his career with the Tigers having amassed 77 tackles, which included 2.5 for loss, and 15 passes defended and four interceptions.

Seahawks rookies reported to training last week, while veterans will report on Tuesday according to NFL.com. That in mind, Rogers and Kam Alexander will look stand out among and earn a more permanent spot on the roster.

Seattle Seahawks release Noah Fant ahead of training camp

These weren’t the only moves the Seahawks made ahead of training camps. The team also released tight end Noah Fantper NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero. Fant spent three seasons with the Seahawks.

The former Iowa standout was traded from the Denver Broncos to Seattle in March 2022, along with two first-round picks, two second-round picks, a fifth-round pick, quarterback Drew Lock and defensive lineman Shelby Harris in exchange for quarterback Russell Wilson. Fant immediately made an impact for the Seahawks, tallying 50 catches for 486 yards and four touchdowns in his first season with the team.

Evidently, the Seahawks weren’t moved by Fant’s performances and the team opted to move on from him. Fant was on a two-year, $21 million contract extension with the Seahawks, which he’d agreed to on March 13, 2024.
