The South Alabama Jaguars not only took care of business against Northwestern State on Thursday night, but they played with their food on their home turf. The Jaguars won 87-10, scoring the most points by any FBS football team in the 21st century.

The last time a team scored 90 points was in 1991, when Fresno State laid the wood to New Mexico, 94-21.

However, bettors who took the OVER on the 60.5 total line couldn't collect on their win. See why below.

Because sportsbooks stipulate their bets, games often require at least 55 minutes of gameplay for tickets to be decided.

But, South Alabama and Northwestern State agreed to an accelerated clock in the fourth quarter. They only played six minutes in the final frame, bringing the total minutes played from 60 down to 51.

Talk about a bad beat. Imagine playing the OVER on a game and hitting by 36 points, but a benign decision that was made for player safety negates your bet.

South Alabama could've reached the 100-point mark had they tried, which would've been the first in FBS play since Houston demolished Tulsa 100-6 in 1968. Alas, good sportsmanship ruined both a historical opportunity and bettors' evenings.
