This Tuesday, Dec. 23, continues the first matchday of the Africa Cup of Nations, and Senegal makes its debut in the tournament by facing Botswana at the Grand Stade de Tanger in Tangier.

Both teams share space in Group D with Benin and DR Congo.

Senegal is coming off a successful final preparation match, having defeated Kenya 8-0 on Nov. 18. Before that, they lost to Brazil 2-0 on Nov. 15.

Botswana, for its part, does not arrive at the tournament in high spirits, as it has not won a match since March 25, when it defeated Somalia 2-0.

Their recent matches include a 2-2 draw against Guinea on Oct. 14 and a 0-1 loss to Uganda on Oct. 9.

Currently, Senegal occupies 19th place in the FIFA ranking, while Botswana occupies 138th place, so it is clear that the first-mentioned team is the favorite.
