Jonathan David scored on his Serie A debut and Dusan Vlahovic proved he’s still got something to say at Juventus, who beat Parma despite the Andrea Cambiaso red card.

The Bianconeri started new buy David, with Gleison Bremer returning full-time after the ACL tear in October 2024, but Nicolò Savona, Fabio Miretti, Juan Cabal, Mattia Perin and Arkadiusz Milik were on the treatment table. Parma had an unlucky summer, losing both Jacob Ondrejka and new buy Matija Frigan to serious injuries. Carlos Cuesta, a former Juventus and Arsenal assistant manager, also missed Hernani, Nicolas Trabucchi, suspended pair Botond Balogh and Abdoulaye Ndiaye.

See how it all unfolded on the Liveblog.

An early flicked-on long throw caused havoc at the back post, Andrea Cambiaso decisive to block Mathias Lovik’s tap-in.

At the other end, Zion Suzuki had to flap a Francisco Conceicao diving header over the bar after an awkward bounce off the turf.

There was a lack of communication when David took the Conceicao cross off the foot of Kenan Yildiz in a much better position.

A similar situation saw Khephren Thuram and Bremer collide trying to get on the end of an Andrea Cambiaso cross at the back post.

Pierre Kalulu was in an unusual wide right role and several teammates just failed to connect with his cross on the stroke of half-time.

Bremer made a fantastic goal-saving block straight after the restart, throwing himself in the way of the Mateo Pellegrino tap-in from six yards on a Pontus Almqvist pull-back.

Federico Gatti fired just over and Kenan Yildiz bent a right-foot finish inches past the far post, but Conceicao was unlucky when his effort from the edge of the area was deflected off Lamine Keita and thumped the base of the upright.

After a desperate Lautaro Valenti interception stopped the David flick, on the resulting corner, Kenan Yildiz twisted and turned down the left to roll across and David prodded home with the outside of the right boot from five yards. It was the first ever Canadian goal for Juventus.

Pellegrino only grazed his head to the Almqvist cross from close range, but Suzuki got down for a tough save to push the Kenan Yildiz control and ferocious half-volley out of the near bottom corner.

Juventus went down to 10 men as Andrea Cambiaso was perhaps harshly shown a straight red card for a reaction foul on Lovik.

However, moments later they doubled their lead when Vlahovic went on the counter-attack and combined with Kenan Yildiz, ready to tap in the return pass from the right.

Parma tried to push back, Michele Di Gregorio flying to palm away the Adrian Bernabé scorcher, but Juve held on for the clean sheet.
