Shaqir O’Neal, the son of basketball legend Shaquille O’Neal, is on the move.

Shaqir is entering the transfer portal, according to Jamie Shaw of On3. The junior forward spent last season playing for Florida A&M.

The 2024-25 season was O’Neal’s first at Florida A&M after two seasons at Texas Southern. He carved out a role for himself, averaging 6.7 points and 3.4 rebounds in 18.1 minutes per game. He appeared in 29 contests for the Rattlers and started 17 of them.

Shaqir was a three-star recruit in high school, according to his Florida A&M bio. He is listed at 6-foot-8 and 200 pounds. He may not be a major player, but some program will likely have a spot for him.

Shaqir is not the only one of Shaq’s sons to try to carve out a basketball career. Shareef O’Neal has been trying to carve out a role in the G League in recent seasons but is currently without a team.
