The NFL draft evaluations are heating up. The scouting combine is approaching on February 27, and mock drafts are released daily by industry experts like Mel Kiper Jr., Daniel Jeremiah and Todd McShay.

Colorado quarterback Shedeur Sanders is frequently projected as a top-ten selection. For example, in Luke Easterling's latest NFL mock draft on Athlon Sports, the 23-year-old field general is picked by the Las Vegas Raiders at No. 6 overall.

The 33rd Team, a site founded by former Miami Dolphins executive Mike Tannenbaum, compared Sanders to Detroit Lions quarterback Jared Goff on social media on Thursday.

Goff is coming off one of his most successful seasons in Detroit. He passed for 4,629 yards, 37 touchdowns and 12 interceptions. The 30-year-old signal-caller was named to the Pro Bowl for the fourth time in his career and finished fifth in MVP voting. Goff led the Los Angeles Rams to Super Bowl LIII but lost to the New England Patriots.

In their most recent mock draft from NFL draft lead Kyle Crabbs, Sanders was projected to the New York Giants with the third pick.

"The trade mill rumors this past week have the Giants kicking the tires on Rams QB Matthew Stafford. It's good due diligence for a New York team that must win in 2025 for head coach Brian Daboll and GM Joe Schoen to keep their jobs.

"But the likelihood of such a swing successfully landing feels low, which leaves New York in the sweet spot to draft a quarterback they've done a ton of due diligence on in Sanders," wrote Crabbs.

Ahead of Sanders in their mock, Miami quarterback Cam Ward was taken first overall by the Tennessee Titans, and Penn State EDGE Abdul Carter went at No. 2 to the Cleveland Browns.

Sanders won the Johnny Unitas Golden Arm Award in 2024 and was named the Big 12 Offensive Player of the Year. He finished his collegiate career with 14,327 passing yards, 134 touchdowns and 27 interceptions.
