Shedeur Sanders Gets Surprising Raiders Update on Wednesday

The Las Vegas Raiders arguably had the worst quarterback situation in the NFL last season, which caused Raider Nation to become enamored with college quarterbacks like Miami's Cam Ward and Colorado's Shedeur Sanders. The team instead acquired veteran signal-caller Geno Smith this offseason, and thoughts of drafting a quarterback in the first round went by the wayside.

However, things change rapidly in the weeks leading up to the NFL Draft, and almost nothing can be counted out until the event begins on April 24. On Wednesday, Fox Sports NFL Insider Jordan Schultz reported  that the Raiders were hosting Shedeur Sanders on a pre-draft visit.

Prior to this report, the Raiders had only hosted quarterbacks like Alabama's Jalen Milroe, Texas' Quinn Ewers and North Dakota State's Cam Miller on pre-draft visits, all of whom are considered to be mid-to-late round picks. However, the new regime in Las Vegas seems to be doing their due diligence on the Colorado product in case he is available at No. 6.

Sanders completed 74.0% of his passes during his senior season for 4,134 yards and 37 touchdowns en route to winning the Big 12 Conference Offensive Player of the Year Award. He is widely considered to be a top 10 prospect, and while he does not fill an immediate need for the Silver and Black, he could be a pivotal part of the organization's future.
